Curious About Fidget?
We Got The Deets

Have a question? We’ve got answers!

Got questions? Here’s a list of frequently asked ones to help you out.

What type of duck are you, Fidget?

I know, I know, I don’t look like your typical Muscovy duck, but I really am one.

Okay, if you’re really a Muscovy, why don’t you have any of those red caruncles on your face?

That’s a good question! And you know what? I’m not really sure… in fact, my Doctors and parents have speculated it’s because I really don’t need them. You see, caruncles on a duck’s face are meant to do a few things: one, it keeps to keep their feathers and two, they help protect their face when they get into fights with other ducks. Us Muscovies can have attitudes sometimes.🤣

Are you a boy duck or a girl duck?

I’m a female, and I identify as such. My pronouns are she/hers.

So you lay eggs, right?

I certainly do. We Muscovies aren’t prolific egg layers, but we put in the work. We lay about 180 eggs a year.

What do your parents do with all those eggs?

Eat ’em. My mom is a big fan of duck egg salad, and I’m happy to oblige. 🥰

Where do you sleep at night?

In my bed. We’ll it’s really my parent’s bed – I sleep the same way many of you do with your dogs or cats. 🛏️

I heard ducks poop a lot; how do your parents handle that? Spoiler🚨I can’t be potty trained.

Yes, we sure do. We poop a lot💩💩💩 and all over. We have no control over our bladder because we have no sphincter muscles. And since we can’t be potty trained, my parents have learned to manage with a feeding schedule, washable waterproof blankets and lots of baby and Clorox wipes. Learn more about my indoor duck life.

What do you eat?

Why duck food, of course! Bet you didn’t know that was a thing. My parents buy me Purina duck pellets, and they mix them with oats and grit, tiny fortified rocks that help with digestion. They sprinkle my food with brewer’s yeast for added nutrition. When I am laying eggs, I also get oyster shells for added calcium. I also get plenty of treats. My fav is peas 🫛
